Rail-type vs. tuck-under: rail liftgates are preferred when a clean under-body profile is desired without the mechanical complexity of a folding platform. The rail platform is always in one plane — no hinge, no fold, no risk of the fold mechanism jamming in cold weather. HVAC distributors prefer rail liftgates because large sheet-metal and equipment packages often need to be slid (not lifted) onto the platform — the flush floor-level position makes sliding easier. If your application frequently loads awkward or skid-mounted equipment, the GPTLR's rail deployment is more practical than a tuck-under. For standard pallet delivery, either style works — the choice is usually chassis fitment and operator preference.
