The Waltco WCC-4400 is a 4,400 lb capacity column-type liftgate engineered for Class 6 and Class 7 straight trucks in the most demanding commercial delivery applications: beverage distribution, full-pallet grocery delivery, industrial supply, and any operation where the liftgate moves 2,000+ lb loads dozens of times per day. Waltco Lift Corporation is the heavy-duty liftgate specialist — their column-type liftgates dominate the beverage distribution industry where Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and regional distributors run column lifts because they handle the combination of weight (full pallet kegs, cases, and equipment) and cycle frequency (100+ cycles/day) that no tuck-under can sustain long-term. The column design uses two vertical steel guide columns to support the platform — the load path goes straight down into the columns and into the truck frame, not through cantilevered arms. This geometry is what allows the WCC-4400 to handle 4,400 lbs without platform deflection or arm fatigue. The 60" × 84" platform accommodates a full standard pallet plus operator. Platform travel is 0" to 60", covering the full height range of Class 6-7 truck body floors. The 12V DC hydraulic system uses a dedicated rear battery (included) — fully independent from the truck's main electrical system. Remote pendant control plus fixed rocker switch at the platform edge. Waltco builds column liftgates in Tallmadge, Ohio.

How does this compare?

Column vs. tuck-under at 4,000+ lb capacity: at this weight class, column-type liftgates are the engineering correct answer. Tuck-under arms are cantilevered — load bends the arm away from the truck at the pivot point, and fatigue is the failure mode at high cycles/high capacity. Column liftgates transfer load vertically into the frame — there's no bending moment at the pivot. For beverage distribution, foodservice delivery, and industrial supply operations that need 4,000+ lb capacity at 80+ cycles/day, the WCC-4400 is the right tool.
